Weekly Email

So much happened this week! It was a crazy but good week!

Transfers were on Wednesday and so Sister Larson and I got to go with President and Sister Johnson and the APs to pick up the new missionaries from the airport! It was so cool to be with them! It brought back so many memories from when I was brand new to the mission! After we picked them up from the airport, we went on the metro with all of them and did some contacting on the metro! It was super fun to be with them and to be able to talk to lots of people. After that, we took the new missionaries to the Visitor's Center and gave them a little tour, and then we all went to the mission home for dinner and for a testimony meeting! It was so great! We got to help President decide which missionaries should go with which trainers! That was really neat! Oh yeah, and Sister Haertling is training this transfer!! She is going to be so great! I am going to be a Grandma!!!;) Woot woot!

Our week was super great! Here are a few highlights:
District Meeting: So on Thursday we were at our district meeting and the Rockville Sisters got up to share a miracle they had. They said that they were tracting in a neighborhood and they came across this woman that wasn't too kind at first and slammed the door in their face. They said they were prompted to knock again, so they did and the mom opened the door a little and shared her unkind feelings towards Mormons. The missionaries testified and the mom said she has a daughter named Khalia that converted to our church over the summer time. The mom said she has a boy friend who was a member who left for his mission a little bit ago (and while the sisters were sharing this I was thinking man that sounds familiar, I taught a girl named Khalia over the summer who got baptized and she was dating a guy who was a member and left on his mission AND  her mom was against the church) and the sisters went on and said the daughter was in the Gaithersburg YSA!!! And I WAS LIKE YES THAT'S THE KHALIA I TAUGHT!!!!!! I FREAKED OUT and told the sisters that I was in the Gaithersburg YSA branch over the summer and that Sister Ete and I taught Khalia!! It was such a great moment. The sisters went on to say that the mom had a softened heart and the mom asked if they would come back and share more!!!!!!!!!!! MIRACLE. Khalia's mom is going to learn about the gospel!! The crazy thing is that just a few weeks ago, we ran into Khalia at the metro and AH it was so cool! I'm so grateful the Rockville Sisters followed the spirit!

Mary Lou and Robert: We were out checking up on a referral we got and there was a cute older couple out on their rocking chairs on their front porch enjoying the weather! We said hi and walk up towards them and they were so nice and wanted to talk. Turns out they have been to the church historical site in Palmyra, New York and really enjoyed it! They also went to the Sacred Grove while they were there and said they felt the spirit so strongly! They said they would love to come to church sometime!!!!! We gave them a Book of Mormon and a Restoration pamphlet and got their contact info. and went on our way to check up on our referral! On our way back we saw them and they were reading the Book of Mormon and pamphlet we gave them! It was so sweet! They were so prepared. We passed on their info. to the Chevy Chase Elders. They are so happy to be able to teach this wonderful couple!

Ah so much happened this week but I am lacking motivation and time to type it all out! I hope you all are doing well!

PS: WE ARE GETTING BIKES IN OUR AREA!!! WOOOHHHH!!!!

Love you all! Have a great week!

16 Months!

Hello everybody! I cannot believe it has already been 16 months! That is so crazy! I decided to extend my mission, so all those who are wondering, my release date will be May 18th... 2018 haha, just kidding 2017! ;) I can't wrap my mind around the concept of coming home but I am looking forward to seeing all of you again in a couple of months!

We had a busy and great week! We have transfers on Wednesday!! Sister Larson and I are pretty sure we are staying together in the DC 2nd YSA Ward, but we find out tonight! We are excited  for another transfer together!

This week we finished up our exchanges with all of the sisters! It was super great! On one of the exchanges, I had the opportunity  to go to Carrollton with Sister Vespucci for the day! It was so much fun! They are in such a great area! It was really cool, we got the opportunity to teach so many kids while we were on exchanges together, so that was really neat! I love teaching kids so much! They are huge examples to me of pure Christlike love!

Luana: She is doing super great! We had to put her baptism on Saturday on hold. Unfortunately, she is struggling with some things. But she has such a strong testimony that this is the right path for her and she has such a strong testimony of the gospel and is willing to work through what she is struggling with! She will just need some time which is completely okay! She is so strong! She got a priesthood blessing and is trying her best!! We taught the Plan of Salvation to her and she said that it all made so much sense and that she knew it before. It was a tender moment. I know that the Plan of Salvation is real. It brings me so much happiness and direction in my life. I am so thankful I get to share it with others!

A less active girl in our ward invited us over to celebrate her mom's birthday! It was really cool, we got to meet a lot of people and one girl we met said she wanted to learn more! So that was exciting and we are looking forward to getting to teach her!

Just to end, I want to testify of God's love for us. He shows His love for us in the times we need it and in the times we call upon it. He gives us divine help and strength as we seek for His help. Heavenly Father has helped me so much and it is through prayer and reading the scriptures that we qualify to receive His help. I know this church is true and that it brings many blessings and happiness. Love you all!

So This Came Today...

This email came into my inbox today and I could hardly believe it!  I can't believe my sweet girl comes HOME in 3 months!  I can't wait to give her a big mama bear hug when she gets off that plane!  It will be a sweet reunion!!

May 18th is the BIG day!! :)

Baptisms!!!!

Hey family and friends! We have a packed P day today so I will keep this short and sweet.

Basically this week was the best week ever!

Caroline's Baptism: So Caroline's baptism was on Saturday! It was so sweet and so special. Caroline was just glowing!! Right after she was baptized, she came up and was like, "Wowww! Oh wow!!" It was the sweetest thing ever, and then she just looked at everyone for about two minutes. The spirit was so strong and I know that was such a special moment for Caroline. She has impacted my life so much, I am so grateful we were able to go to her baptism!

Mary Clare's Baptism: Oh my goodness, the spirit at her baptism was so strong!!! Mary Clare is such an inspiration! Her conversion story is so amazing. She is so strong!! None of her family is too supportive but she knew this is what she needed to do. She bore her testimony after her baptism and what she said was so powerful. She said, "There is no way something this good that has brought me so much happiness and is so real could not be true!!" She was just glowing with the spirit and the light of Christ in her eyes! It was seriously one of the most memorable moments. Everyone there was in tears! The spirit was so strong.

Her mom was the only one from her family that attended her baptism right after church! So her mom came to church again this week because she had a really good experience with it last week! Mary Clare told us how last week her mom came with the intent to find something bad or negative, and she told us how her mom said she couldn't find anything! Her mom loved coming and came again on Sunday! Her mom is incredible. One day I know Mary Clare's whole family will be together and united and it will all be from Mary Clare's striking example (and the spirit!).

This church is so true and I feel so honored to be able to share this truth with the people here! I have never been this happy in my life!!!!!!!!!! Serving the Lord brings so much joy!!:) The mission is the best!

Love you all!!

I miss the Bethesda ward!!:)

Highlights of the Week!

This week was MIRACULOUS!!!!!!! :)

We got to go to the temple today and it was so neat. I love going to the temple and learning more about God's plan for His children!

Here is an update on some of our investigators:

Luana: SHE IS DOING SO GREAT!! We went over for a lesson on Saturday and taught her about the Restoration and the spirit was so strong!! We talked a lot about God's love and she told us that lately she has really been able to feel of God's love. She started to cry and she testified to us that she knew God led her down this path and how she feels the goodness of it. We invited her to be baptized on February 19th and she gladly accepted and told us how she would do anything to be able to be baptized. She told us how going to church comforts her heart. It was so sweet. Something that really hit me while we were teaching was how we are able to feel the power of God's love through the Restoration and through teaching about it. The Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is all about the love God has for us. I am so grateful Luana was able to feel of that love.

We met with her again yesterday and oh my goodness she is the most dedicated and willing person I have ever met. We originally planed to teach her about the Plan of Salvation, but when we got over there, she immediately opened up to us and told us how she has been praying to know what she can do to show her love for God more. She said she has been trying to keep the 10 Commandments but she felt like there was more she could be doing to prepare for her baptism. Our jaws just about dropped to the floor! It gave us the perfect opportunity to teach her about all the commandments including the Law of Chastity and Word of Wisdom!!! She said it was going to be hard but that she was willing to do anything for God. It is so cool how God works and how He was preparing Luana to follow His commandments! It was really cool how her questions guided the lesson. Her testimony was so special, she testified that she knew this was true and that this was the right way for her. She told us that that morning she was reading in the Book of Mormon and then two doves came by her window! She said she considered it a sign from God! Luana is seriously a walking miracle. She is a huge example to me of someone who lives on faith. She is amazing and has changed my life. I know God has been preparing her for a very long time and I feel so lucky and blessed to help in her conversion! I love her so much!

Mary Clare: She is doing amazing and is so excited for her baptism on Sunday! She is all set and ready to go! Her mom came to church with all of us on Sunday to see what we were all about and had a complete change of heart. So a little back ground on Mary Clare's family: they are ALL anti-Mormon and do not support Mary Clare getting baptized at all. Mary Clare is so strong though and she knows this is what she needs to do.  So her mom came to church with us on Sunday and she had a complete change of heart. The mom told us how it was not how she thought it was and how she just loved every second of it. It was so sweet! The mom said she would come to the baptism! IT WAS A MIRACLE! :)

Love you all! Have a great week!!
